THE PARAGRAPHS

PARAGRAPH 1: Our dog likes hunting.Someone opens the back door for her and she moves into the yard.She runs back and forth across the grass in bliss.Her nose scans the wet grass for odours.These are odours of cats,rabbits and other creatures which are not recognizable for human detection.She sniffles and twins her tail in fast circles.It twists clockwise chiefly and then it twists counterclockwise.These two actions always occur at the same time.They are sniffling and twisting.They seem to drive her along.

PARAGRAPH 2: The Government Printing Office in Washington D.C. is a resource of much advantageous information.Many people don't know about it.It is the official publishing house for the federal government.The GPO publishes booklets and books on a huge number of topics.These topics extend from the dangers of X-rays from home TV sets to the identification of mushrooms.Nearly 27,000 pamphlets are offered through the Superintendent of Documents and few of them are expensive.There is no charge at all for some of them.

PARAGRAPH 3: A man whose name was John Jacob Astor acquired America's first chance.He was a German immigrant.He made his first money trading Indian furs.He was lowborn and he wasn't educated.Astor never learned to speak English properly.He went on doing hic career to end in an accent.The accent was reminiscent of the Hamburg slums.

VİDEO REFLECTİON

          The students choose the university in US.Because they think that US education system has a lot of opportunities for students.For example the girl from China thinks that US education system helps her to practice.The girl from Netherland thinks that American education system more creative and flexible than the others.But the boy from Japan says that coming to this school like a habit for him.Because he was in foreign country at high school.So he is accustomed to it.

            They dislike education systems in their home country.They think that the education system of their country quite strict.They say that education system in US is more flexible.The girl from Netherland says that education system of her country is based on just books and fix plans.So she likes the system of US.The Japanese student says that they cannot change their major in her country.The girl from China says that they must get high grades to enter the universities in her country.

             They mention about America.Chinese girl gives an example the way of drying clothes of American people.In China clothes are hanged to outside ,but in America people use drying machines to dry them.The girl from Netherland mentions about her experiences in America.The boy from Japan says that American people are more easy to understand because they communicate each other directly but the Japanese don't.

             The girl from Netherland says that culture shock is inescapable for students.Because there are different people,different places,foods..And they have different culture.The Chinese girl finds interesting people who wear shorts in winter.The boy is shocked by people who burp without thinking where they are.

             As to my opinions,studying in America is useful for us.Education in America can provide many opportunities to us.When we back to our country,we have more qualified and comfortable life.We can find better jobs easily.I would like to go to America to study.I hope ı can go there in the following years.If ı go there,ı know that ı will encounter some difficulties but ı can achieve as time goes..

BEING A STUDENT AT METU

               Firstly  ı can say that ı am not have a problem about adaptation process.Because ı stayed in dormitory for four years in highschool and ı was away from my family and my friends.So ı am accustomed to stay away from my home.When ı came to metu at first,ı didn’t know anybody.I didn’t know my classmates.On the first day of school ı was very excited and anxious.As time passes ı was acquainted with my friends and my fears was reduced.

               At present ı have some minor challenges.For example, I didn’t get used to coldness of Ankara and ı didn’t get used to the lessons.Sometimes ı don’t understand what my teachers say and ı have a problem about speaking English fluently.But ı think ı will get used to ıt as time passes.Also ı have a difficulty in Literature lesson.English Literature is very difficult to understand.And ı miss my family so much although ı get used to stay away from my hometown.Another problem at METU is ring services.When our last lesson finish, ring services don’t work.Therefore we have to walk up to the dormitory in cold weathers.

               My first choice wasn’t METU.But now ı am happy to be here.METU has a very big campus.No matter what we need, we can obtain it at METU.For our personal development, METU is the best choice.There are lots of facilities.For example, there are a lot of communities and clubs which we can join.We can do a lot of things at METU.For instance, we can g oto sport center, swim in the pool, play football,tennis,voleyball etc.And we can go to courses to learn play the musical instruments.We can go to METU library.There are a lot of courses which we can take advantage of them.

               Apart from these METU has a qualified education system.It is important that METU’s educational language is English.This is very useful for students.And here we have a chance to learn other languages.

               METU is a different world in itself.Being at METU is a different feeling.As ı said before, METU wasn’t my first choice but ı came here fortunately.METU has fullfilled my expectations extremely.According to me METU is a chance which we need to evaluate it for us.And we are the luckiest students in Turkey.Being a student at METU is indescribable feeling.=)
